A practical way to show Elygra what lunch is like for pupils, so improvements can be suggested for the dining area and the routes around it.

Walk from the classroom or playground to the dining hall, through choosing and eating, then out again. Visit during the busiest normal sitting. Record what works as well as what gets in the way.

1. Prepare - Fill in the site snapshot and choose the sitting to observe.

2. Walk and notice - Using multiple stops, observe the actual service, then photograph spaces when pupils are absent.

3. Share and prioritise - Gather anonymous pupil and staff comments, choose the three biggest barriers, and send the evidence pack to Elygra.

Ask a colleague to cover your normal duties while you observe.

A clear sketch, a few labelled photos, three queue timings, an approximate pupil count and short observations are enough to reveal patterns. If you use a phone sound app, note the same phone and location for each reading; readings are indicative and do not establish acoustic compliance.

For example: “At 12:25, the queue blocked the hall doorway for four minutes. Two pupils turned back and asked staff where to go.” Record the place, time and effect when you can.
